TRANQUILITY ! EMERALD LAKE : YOHO NATIONAL PARK : CANADIAN ROCKIES : AUGUST 2018

With emerald and multi-blue lakes, massive glaciers, snow-capped mountains, myriad wildlife, all in the back drop of a gorgeously sunny and bright sky, the Canadian Rockies present a scene made in heaven and draws me to repeated visits .After June 1980 and May 2009  this was my third visit in August 2018. As if the multitude of people thronging around every place of attraction reminiscent of Kumbha Mela was not difficult enough, this time the skies were almost always filled with dark billowing smoke - results of numerous raging forest fires to the west in California, Washington State and British Columbia - rendering  visibility near zero and breathing extremely difficult. Many trips had to be cancelled but fortunately a full day trip to a Grizzly Bear Reserve that included a visit to the Takakkaw Falls and the Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park was simply splendid ! Below is a photo of the Emeral Lake.
